MONO.LOGUES holds the group show “UNLOGICAL 08” with works of Ei Kaneko,Lui Nemeth and Okuno Hiroshi from 6 Dec. to 23 Dec. 2024.
The UNLOGICAL series, now in its eighth edition, focuses on three artists from different communities and backgrounds with no personal connection to each other.
Ei Kaneko reconstructs the existing elements in magazines and the internet and reflects them in his drawings. His carefully illustrated drawings using the dry media of pencil and colored pencils invite the viewer to see things from a new perspective.
Lui Nemeth’s practice emphasizes improvisation and the act of painting as a process, with brushstrokes on paper and canvas serving as a medium for her continuous exploration of the inner self. Central to this exhibition is the “Three Graces” series, a reimagining of Botticelli’s Primavera, revisited from a work originally created during her childhood.
The potter, Okuno Hiroshi, creates his own unique narrative by incorporating ancient civilizations, mythologies and cultural inheritances into his subject matter. His creations have tastefully distinct earthen brown and colorful hues and a rich profundity that is unique to pottery. It is as if while plainly explaining the legends of the past he is passing them on to the modern generation.
This will be the first group show at MONO.LOGUES in almost a year. Please come and see the show.

Lui Nemeth approaches painting from a deeply personal perspective, rooted in the raw process of creation. Graduating from Central Saint Martins in London in 2010, she currently lives and works in Tokyo, Japan. In Nemeth’s work, there is a deliberate rejection of physical form or object in order to reach what is deeply internal and nearly inexpressible, evading clear representation. Her approach is both instinctual and improvisational, allowing each color and stroke to emerge without preconceived intentions.
This upcoming exhibition revisits “Three Graces,” a series inspired by an early childhood artwork reinterpreting Botticelli’s Primavera. The show includes the original piece, created when Nemeth was five, displayed alongside her repainted version from 2021, with a third new painting from the same year, rendered in the expressive style of her “Portraits” series. Together, these works capture a layered dialogue between memory, transformation, and artistic growth, delving into aspects of human experience and expression that are often left unspoken.
Previous exhibitions include “Oil on Paper” (2016) at Cale, Higashiazabu, Tokyo, where Nemeth introduced a series of works on paper that translated sounds into color, reflecting her early exploration of sensory experiences in visual form. The following year, “Portraits” (2017) presented a shift toward depicting movement and energy, with abstract works on linen capturing the repetitive rhythm of life in a steady, consistent manner. Most recently, her show “Chromatic Studies” (2023) was held in her studio, exploring layered, unbalanced colors brought into harmony, resonating with hidden emotions and frequencies of the self.
In each exhibition, Nemeth’s approach remains steadfastly focused on the act of making itself, where spontaneity and evolving forms become central. She finds purpose in this unfolding process, allowing the work to stand as an ongoing inquiry rather than a finished statement.
